Hi, I am Lennon Collis Matthew from the nature island of Dominica located in the
center of the eastern Caribbean Archipelago. My early education began in Dominica
from the primary school system to community college where I studied Advance Level
Geography and Biology. Upon completion, I taught Geography for two years at my alma
mater, Portsmouth Secondary School.
My passion for earth science led me to Midwestern State University (MSU) in Wichita
Fall Texas in 2000. There I pursued a BSc degree in Geology with a minor in Manufacturing
Engineering Technology. I am currently a licensed registered Professional Geologist
and Leaking Petroleum Storage Tank Manager in the state of Texas. A passion for growth
and learning took me back to MSU where in 2023, I completed a master’s in business
administration with a focus on energy management.
Over the past 20 years I have actively worked in the environmental consulting industry
conducting environmental impact assessments, source removals, groundwater sampling
and other environmental related activities at retail petroleum, hazardous waste, super
fund sites and other environmentally sensitive locations. I am currently the Senior
Regional Project Manager at APTIM working on a major Retail Petroleum account with
responsibility for Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana.
I currently reside in Denton Texas, and In my spare time I enjoy going to the movies
with my family, playing the guitar or trying some new art project. I give back to
my homeland by aiding with the creation of an environmental advocacy nonprofit called
WAVE, which stands for Waitukubuli Advocates for Viable Environments. The aim is to
apply my experience and knowledge to help increase the awareness of the importance
of a healthy environment to our own health and quality of life.
