Brian Trusty

Principle, Pro Consulting and Chair of the AERI Advisory Board

Brian has enjoyed a 28-year career in parks and recreation, land and habitat management, tourism, and economic development that includes executive management responsibilities in private for-profit, private non-profit, and public organizations. Brian's career includes managing an outdoor adventure tour program he founded that operated in 22 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico; managing a system of nature parks for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) in Texas; leading the development and operation of the premier whitewater and adventure sports destination on the east coast; leading Audubon's conservation and environmental education programs in Texas and the Central Flyway as well as overseeing Audubon's extensive national network of nature centers and wildlife sanctuaries; and performing strategic planning and management consulting for parks and recreation and land management agencies throughout the United States. Brian has served as the Chair of the Great Plains Landscape Conservation Cooperative for US Fish and Wildlife Service, is a member of the Advisory Board for the Advanced Environmental Research Institute at University of North Texas and serves as Chair of the Texas State Parks Advisory Committee since 2013 for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He was the primary author of the Texas State Parks Centennial Plan and helped lead the process to a successful passage of a state constitutional amendment in 2019 establishing a dedicated public funding source for Texas State Parks. Brian has been consulting with PROS as a Principal since 2007 and serves as the project manager of municipal and county master plans, site or system strategic plans, financial and feasibility analyses, conservation and land management plans, and governance and operational management plans. In 2019, Brian was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni of Texas A&M's Parks, Recreation and Tourism Sciences Department.
